BANANA CREAM PIE | TARTINE RECIPE REVIEW
Baking with a new recipe is so uncertain, it could lead to a flop or an amazing result. Therefore I decided to film me trying out new recipes so you can join me on this adventure. I tend to switch up some stuff in recipes as I usually find most recipes too sweet for me. Also sometimes things just fail for some reason and that is completely ok. All we have to do is find solutions to it. So join me in this episode as I work through the Banana Cream Pie recipe in Tartine's cookbook and see how it goes from there! There were a few changes to the original recipe so I will write the recipe that I did with some notes on it instead. BANANA CREAM PIE COMPONENTS WHAT YOU WILL NEED: PIE SHELL (originally 25cm, but that was too big for me) used a 14cm in diameter based on : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7edYZDpS_4 MELTED CHOCOLATE 30g (originally bittersweet but I used milk chocolate) WHIPPED CREAM (took out the sugar and added vanilla paste) heavy cream 125g vanilla paste 2g CARAMEL SAUCE (sub corn syrup with maple syrup, added more milk) cream 40g vanilla paste 2g sugar 62g water 15g maple syrup 10g a sprinkle of salt unsalted butter 15g milk 30g PASTRY CREAM (decreased sugar by 10g, sub cornflour with AP flour as I prefer that texture) milk 240g vanilla paste 3g a pinch of salt sugar 47g AP flour 15g eggs 50g butter 30g RIPE BANANAS (cut into 5mm slices instead of 6mm) 2 whole bananas CHOCOLATE (used pellets and grate instead of shavings from a bar) I hope that was useful for you!
